Kulture Clash International Jazz Day Celebration April 30th 2015

In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. International Jazz Day is chaired and led by Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director General, and legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, who serves as a UNESCO Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue and Chairman of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. The Institute is the lead nonprofit organization charged with planning, promoting and producing this annual celebration. www.jazzday.com

Beyond High School Project was founded in 2005 by Minister Keith L. Thompson after noticing that a large number of available scholarship dollars going unclaimed each year because parents and students were unaware of their availability. Minister Thompson decided to start BHSP, in order to ensure that these and other information is disseminated to those who could benefit from it the most. Education beyond high school can and will give students choices that will not otherwise be possible, by opening doors to better paying positions, giving students the opportunity to do the things they enjoy most.  Today more than ever before, education is the fault line between those who will prosper in this new economy and those who will not.
